Houston Person


Houston Person is a jazz tenor saxophonist and a record producer. Although he has performed in the hard bop and swing genres, he is most experienced in and best known for his work in soul jazz. Person is also known for his distinctive sassy sound and his expressive style of playing.


He received the Eubie Blake Jazz Award in 1982. Houston Person has more than 75 albums under his own name.  

Dr. Barry Harris


Dr. Barry Harris is an internationally renowned Jazz Pianist, Composer and Teacher. For the past several decades Barry Harris is considered to be the foremost interpreter and an exponent of the classic bebop jazz style, traveling the world over as an Ambassador of Jazz.


Barry Harris has received the Living Jazz Legacy award from the Mid-Atlantic Arts Association, and an American Jazz Masters Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. He is the recipient of Honorary Doctorate degrees from Northwestern University and Lewis College of Business. In addition, he received the Manhattan Borough President Award for Excellence.


Kirk Lightsey is a 82-year-old pianist with a diaphanous harmonic sensibility and a redoubtable résumé (he toured and/or recorded with Dexter Gordon, Chet Baker and Woody Shaw, among countless others). In 1988 Mr. Lightsey was voted among the top pianists in the world by the Downbeat International Critis's Poll and in 1989 he was chosed as one of Steinway's preferred artists.


Lightsey is now based in Paris and seldom performs on this side of the Atlantic.


Ray Blue is a New York bread saxophonist, composer, arranger and educator, who performs internationally. His music can be described as a fusion of straight ahead jazz and rhythmic groove. Mr. Blue consults and presents at schools, universities and community institutions around the world.


Mr. Blue is a 2013 New York Hall of Fame inductee - Master Blues and Jazz artist.

The Norm Hathaway Big Band was formed in 1999 by Norm and Lorraine Hathaway (both alto sax players). It has developed into one of the top big bands in the NY-Metro area. The band has played many venues, including repeat appearances at the Iridium on Broadway, one of the most prestigious jazz clubs in the world, and has appeared on Saturday Night Live!



The Pro-Am Ensemble is Cross-Cultural Connection's workshop ensemble in which students from diverse backgrounds play alongside seasoned professional clinicians. The result is a powerful current of joy that is a delight for performers and audiences alike as they experience the power and beauty of American folk music - Jazz.
